***What is Argentine Tango?***

Argentine tango in it’s simple essence is walking in an embrace with another human being to beautiful poetry, set to music from the turn of the last century. It is one of the oldest forms of social dancing in the world.

This weekend will introduce you some of the the FUN – damentals of movement & connection of Argentinian Tango.

It is an “apperitivo-sized portion” of the basic vocabulary and grammar of this beautiful dance language. You will be invited to try out your newly acquired skills with other human beings using your body.

We also learn to tango to tell each other our beautiful stories.

Through the dance, we increase our awareness of our connection with ourselves. We build our our capacity of Attention & Attunement of our Nervous System, while being offered the gifts of connection & co-regulation through movement & stillness with others.
We increase our capacity for listening, grounding, self-leadership, & receptivity.Exploring endless possibilities, between gravity and earth, between stillness & motion of Improvised play.
We will explore the dynamics of changing Roles. You will be invited to explore dancing both roles (approx 50% of the time) which builds our capacities of compassion & empathy.
This is a Queer friendly space.

Sofia Saborido

With 30 years of experience Sofía Saborido has danced tango almost all her life. Great grand daughter of the legendary composer and musician Enrique Saborido, Sofia started dancing aged 10 and teaching when she was only 15. Since then, she has travelled to more than 30 countries around the world, teaching Tango.

She has collaborated with El Indio Benavente, Carlos Espinoza, Andres Sautel and, for the past ten years with Pablo Inza.

Her goal is to help dancers develop awareness and comfort to become more “huggable” by training connection through improvisation.

Bynoi Desouza

Besides being a Dancer, I’m a Deep Somatic Educator, an Internal Arts Coach, a Native Tantrik Educator & Researcher, & Faculty at the International School of Temple Arts. As much as I love dance without form, Tango is my preferred partnered language of Movement.
I began dancing Argentine Tango 18 years ago & spent 3 summers living in Buenos Aires, practicing & immersing myself deeper in the Dance between 2011 – 2014. I created & curated a Tango community project in Gothenburg, Sweden for 5 years, inviting globally known Tango Artists to share their gifts with local community, co-create, & train together .
I’m fascinated by the possibilities offered by Tango of Radical Listening, Creativity, Play, Attunement, Self-& Co-Regulation, Connection & Improvisation. The layers of exploring “Consciencia Corporal” (Consciousness of the “Cuerpo, Body), our connection with ourselves, and of exploring the Relational Body created when two humans dance together.
