This Summer Solstice, inviting you to journey inward & with us exploring the self-ritual & practices (Breath, Sound, & micro-meditations) from the Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra (VBT), a key “Root Tantra” of the Rich & Vast Tantrik corpus (see more info below).
Instead of your mind searching for, or another mind intellectually answering the beautiful, perennial question “so what then is Tantra?”, this practical session is an opportunity to support bottom-up listening , i.e body-to-mind listening.
To gift your body the opportunity to have an experience, and reveal insights, sensations, feelings, messages, or information to you.
There is no prior knowledge you need, or to invest in a belief system. In groups that I have shared this journey with many times over since 2016, both complete beginners and those with experience have reflected powerful journeys, expanded awareness & shifts in emotional states.
What happens at “Breath of Classical Tantra”?
This journey focusses on micro-meditations offering contemporary humans simple, potent internal technologies to expand awareness and shift emotional states.
Practically, we explore “tracking” the capacity of the body to shift greater degrees of awareness into the present moment.
Connecting with our subtle sexuality; the refined movements of sexual energy in the body & Kundalini.
Opening into extended Deep Rhythmic Flow states of Timelessness, Surrender, Fertility & Stillness.
The English word Somatics is derived “Soma”, meaning “Body” in Greek & also “Mystery Elixir” in Sanskrit. There is much value in understanding & experiencing Classical Tantra through the jiva (meaning aliveness, inhale or soul) & vibration (spanda) of her Source Language/s.
The sounds in Sanskrit speak directly to the cells of the body. Sometimes, bypassing our conscious mind, & speaking directly to our sub-conscious or our unconscious. The Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra (VBT) is one of the few “Tantras” with a continuous tradition of exploration/practice/study down to present times on the Indian subcontinent.
I will also share share my perspective of the “Her-story of Classical Tantra”, traced through the eyes of Tantrik, Dakini, & Yogini temples in India. Originally written in Sanskrit, probably around a 1000 years ago, the VBT at last count at least 20 (+?) different versions of translations in English. I will be synthesising a few different translations that focus on my key interest, the somatic practices & innovations to the self-ritual of cultivating Kundalinī, life-force-energy.
This is an embodied journey with an educational component (approx 75% embodied & 25% educational)
At the beginning of our time together, we will establish agreements together, so that every individual feels fully honoured and supported in moving only as fast or slow and as far as their individual sense of safety permits. Each person decides their level of involvement, without peer group pressure.
ALL of You is welcome. Individuals, couples, and relationship groups of any formation are welcome.
